For the Sake of the Gospel

This phrase from our mission statement, "for the sake of the Gospel," doesn't get talked about too often in Socratic Club. We're often more focused on the parts about dialogue between various perspectives. But I thought I'd let you all know how our recent conversation on praying to the saints helped me this morning. I was asked by a member of our community what I thought about praying to the saints. He has been attending a Catholic Church some lately. While our conversation a week ago about praying to the saints was not very "fruitful," it certainly gave me a better appreciation for what I do not know. It might seem odd to think of what-I-don't-know as an asset, but when I was asked this morning about praying to the saints, I had a good idea of where the limits of my knowledge were, and hopefully this helped me minister in conversation (I believe it did). I think in this small conversation our Socratic Club meetings really did contribute to the Gospel. Thanks for talking with me each week. Tom
